Questions and answers
Is accreditation mandatory?
The use of a system in private health institutions is tied to their compliance with the National Policy for Health Information Governance and Management. The Ministry sets the dates and announces them.
Is the system accredited, or the vendor?
The vendor is registered first and then adds its systems from its account. Accreditation is granted to a system in a specific version; a vendor may have several systems.
What if the data is hosted outside Oman?
Health data may not be stored outside the Sultanate, backups included (Circular 26/2025). A system whose data is kept outside the Sultanate is not added to the platform: its hosting is moved inside first.
Do we need to support FHIR?
Yes. Systems connect to the national health record by the international standard HL7 FHIR. The details and the examples are in the package, which opens to the vendor once its registration is approved.
What is the difference between a core and a phased requirement?
A core requirement is a condition of accreditation. A phased requirement is completed within the period stated in the accreditation decision.
Is data of real patients used in testing?
No. The sandbox takes synthetic data only.
How long is accreditation valid?
Three years from the day the certificate is issued; the date is printed on it. The Ministry must be told about any major release or change of hosting during that period.
Who signs in to the account of the vendor?
The authorised signatory named in the request to register. His account is opened once the Ministry approved the registration and he is told by e-mail; he may then add users of the vendor and give them their permissions.
